Find the files
A Movie Maker project holds no pictures, video or music of its own, only where they were on the computer that made it. Choose the folder that holds them now. A parent folder is fine; the folders inside it are searched too. Files are matched by name, so a new drive letter or user name does not matter, and nothing is uploaded.

What comes back
Photo Story saved each project as a single .wp3 file holding copies of your pictures, the narration you recorded and any music you added, plus a description of every slide. So even when the original photos are long gone, the project file usually still has them.
Slideback reads that description and rebuilds the slideshow: how long each slide stays up, where each pan and zoom starts and ends, the crossfades, captions in the font and colour you picked, narration under each slide and music where you added it. You see all of it in the preview before you pay for anything.
A few things are approximations. Transition styles other than the crossfade play as a crossfade, and of the picture effects only black and white is reproduced so far. If your project uses any of these, the page lists them right after you open it.
A Movie Maker .wlmp file works the other way round: it holds no media at all, only where each photo, clip and song was on the old computer. Open one and the page lists every file it needs, asks for the folder they are in now, and finds them by name. Then it rebuilds the movie with the trims, speed changes, transitions, pan and zoom, titles, captions, music, narration and the clips' own sound, and you can watch it before paying. Video clips in WMV or AVI have to be converted to MP4 first, because browsers cannot read them.
What it costs
Opening a project, the preview, the zip of photos and sound, and the Movie Maker file check are free. Saving the MP4 is a one-time US$19 for this browser, and it covers Photo Story and Movie Maker projects alike, as many as you like. The pricing page has the details, including the refund.
